Ladies and gentlemen, it’s official: This pregnancy has made its way to my face.  Behold:

Hello, chipmunk cheeks!

Hello, chipmunk cheeks!

If you’ll compare this photo to the one taken of me at 20 weeks pregnant, I think you’ll notice what I noticed after looking at this picture: My face is chubbier!

I am totally to blame for this, though Squishy is culpable as well.  The past six weeks have heralded a brave new age of pregnancy, wherein my large tummy gives me boldness to eat what I would never have dared to wrap my lips around before.

Signature hot chocolates from Starbucks, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, Halloween candy.  You name it, if it was sugary chances are excellent I gobbled it.

Squishy is a large part of the reason for this.  He’s taken to violently rejecting foods he finds unappealing via severe nausea.  If I try to eat a pear as a mid-morning snack, he sends it shooting right back up.  Try to eat a bagel slathered in cream cheese, however, and he claps his little baby hands in delight and asks for more.

After viewing this picture, though, I’ve decided to lay down the law: No more sweets!  My chances of having a successful natural birth increase dramatically if I can keep my pregnancy weight gain down to a reasonable degree, so these sugary shenanigans end now.

I’d like to keep this pregnancy confined to the waist down, thanks so much.  He can take over my stomach, but if at all possible I’d love for him to leave my face alone!

I’m with Squishy, a bagel with cream cheese sounds much better than a pear, but maybe the two of you could compromise – pear slices with cream cheese spread on them?

Do “they” know if in womb preferences continue outside the womb?

-Blanche, I know, and that’s why I’ve been stuffing my face. Bagels are WAY better than fruit!! I don’t know of The Scientists know whether food preferences persist outside the womb. I have a friend whose son loves chocolate and she says that’s because she ate so much of it while pregnant. Who knows?
