Professional blogs

In addition to this blog, I’ve been known to run a few others as well.  I’m one of the lucky few who’s managed to cobble a living out of blogging.  Whenever people ask me what I do the conversation invariably goes one of two ways:

“So, what do you do?”

“I blog.”

“Oh.  So you’re unemployed, then?”

OR

“So, what do you do for a living?”

“I blog.”

“That’s awesome!  How did you ever get into doing that?”

I got into blogging when I started my personal blog and fell deeply in love with the practice and medium.  I was hugely fortunate to snag a job with Qvisory, a non-profit start-up who gave me the chance to blog for a living.  I wrote mostly about work-related topics for 18-34 year olds and recruited other bloggers to write for the site as well.

Now, I run the blog of a company called Bottle Your Brand.  I built that blog from the ground up and I’m immensely proud of it.  I write about anything and everything relating to personalized labels and am now a quasi-expert on weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, and homebrewing.  Yay me.

I also helped launch a super-awesome site called Offbeat Mama.  We launched in late September 2009 and I had a lot of fun learning from Ariel of Offbeat Bride fame.  I wrote quite a bit for the site, and handled a variety of content management stuff.

If you’re not yet sick of my writing, you’re welcome to explore my other stuff here:

Alice.com I wrote a couple guest posts for Alice when they first launched.  You can find my post about the delegation of household duties in marriage here, and my post about buying toilet paper (loathe!) here.
