Rockin’ in the Brie World

Things that are rocking my world right now:

  • The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Wes and I are halfway through The Two Towers and, even though I’m on the verge of tears almost the entire time, I can’t help but feel a deep and resounding love for these movies.
  • Amy Lee (of Evanescence fame) singing “Sally’s Song” from The Nightmare Before Christmas on Jay Leno. I really dig a chick who can sing the heck out of one of my favorite songs, play the piano in accompaniment, and then turn right around and start plucking at a harp.
  • The signature hazelnut hot chocolate at Starbucks. It changed my life. I may never be grumpy again. If you love yourself (or your tummy) at all, go investigate for yourself.
  • Wes’ and my absentee ballots arrived in the mail today and we’re going to vote later this evening. It humbles me that I live in a time when my opinions are respected and I don’t have to justify my right to vote. Yay, women’s suffrage!
  • Knowing that tomorrow is Friday, and the day after that is Saturday, which means that in no time at all I’ll be sleeping in, eating a late breakfast with my husband, and not looking at a computer monitor for two whole days!

How about you, what’s rocking your world lately?

  1. I do adore Amy Lee, she’s a favorite. And I have always been wondering about those signature hot chocolates!! But I like caffeine so I always opted for a latte instead. I will possibly try one soon.

  2. -Del, I particularly like the way Amy Lee has given goth a touch of pretty. In that video, though, it looks like she’s got an orange spot on her head. I can’t tell what’s going on but it’s vaguely disconcerting. If and when you do try the signature hot chocolates, do tell me what you think!!

  3. Yay for weekends away from a computer!

I’m rocking a weekend up at our condo. DH will be training, so I get to veg (read! tv! nap!?) and take walks with the pup and not feel like I have to do a damn thing more. Excellent.

  4. -Wes, Thanks for your comment Quagmire..uh..I mean Wes! I suggest it was a rather large earthquake that was rocking her world because this is a G-rated site, sir :)

-Mrs. Higrens, Ooh, that sounds like a great weekend! I hope your naps are delicious and that you don’t have to clean up a single dessicated Snickers bar all weekend!

  5. How identical some of us are or rather our perception of rocking our funny little worlds :) I am so going to tug in to the warm blanket for a few more hours, read those books I have am waiting to finish and just be happy not thinking of work for 2 days yay yay!

  6. -Perception, that sounds like an amazing weekend! Any weekend that doesn’t require you to be parted from your couch is a good one, in my opinion!
