-Perception, I hope you're right about them forgetting the pain. Doc's memory is notoriously short-lived so I hope he's forgotten all about the stairs incident. He could definitely use a few more toys as the ones he has are all thrashed and/or missing things! I think he's definitely still happy, because I have no doubt he'd make it clear if he was unhappy. He never learned the art of subtlety.

-Blanche, Oh my gosh, those gourmet bones look so gross! I saw one once that was filled with "bacon and cheese" and I was almost sick right there in the aisle. Blech! Doc can't have brownies, but he does love his peanut butter (affectionately known as peeb in our house) so we make sure he gets lots of that :)

Poor Doc. I think he deserves a new squeaky toy, or one of those "gourmet" bones made from cornstarch. (I'd say brownies, but we all know chocolate isn't good for dogs.)

Love the picture!

I was sad as I read this post. Doc reminds me of Lucky. Good thing about Doc or Lucky is they forget the pain and the impression of it. I know as time passes it gets tough, but as long as Doc is with both of you, he will be loved and cared for, dont think he'll want anything more except a few more toys :)
