Ummm, I’m sorry. What am I supposed to be talking about? Because all I can think about is food. All the time. If we’re chatting casually about something, chances are excellent I’m trying to calculate the probability that I’m going to score some food soon. I eat breakfast, and about an hour later the baby’s all, “That was a great appetizer and all, but when are we actually gonna get to eat?”
Early in my pregnancy, I was resolved not to dive headfirst into overeating. I’d worked very hard to curb my unhealthy eating habits, and lose weight as a result, and I didn’t want to undo all that work just because I had a baby on board. I was resolved to let my body let me know when it was time to start eating more.
Well my friends, that time is now. Hunger is my avowed enemy as it makes me lightheaded and psychopathically insane. It’s like the baby has a button in there that triggers a panicky starving feeling, and every time he/she gets a little munchy that button gets pushed. Hard. I have the feeling that my lack of weight gain thus far in the pregnancy is about to be rectified.
So, that being said…Anyone have a bagel sandwich they’re not currently using to feed themselves? Do you maybe want to slide it over to the crazy preggo chick with the manic sheen of insanity in her eyes?
That’s what’s up with me this week. As for what’s up with Squishy? KICKING! All the time! It still tickles like mad, which is silly since I’m feeling the baby move several times a day now. Mostly about ten minutes after I’ve eaten. I like to think Squishy’s in there celebrating, “Oh noodles! I love noodles! Hooray noodles, let’s have noodles all the time!”
Wes put his hand on my belly last night and he swears he felt what might have possibly been the very tiniest kick. Or it could have just been my stomach digesting something. He’s very anxious to feel the baby kick, and I think this is likely because he feels like he’s missing out on all the fun. Which he is, but not for very long. As active as this fetus is, I have no doubt he’ll be feeling stuff all the time soon too.
He does like to talk to the baby, and when he gets home from school he tells the baby about what he learned and the projects he’s working on. The plan for now is to talk to and surround the baby with music, in the hopes that he/she will learn Wes’ voice and also appreciate Muse as much as we do. I mean, Muse just came out with a new album and we just want to make sure the baby is just as excited about that as we are. Oh, sure we’ll throw some Mozart in there as well, but seriously. The new Muse album. It’s really good. And so are blueberry muffins.

Food & Squishy – what more can you ask for?
-Blanche, Hmmm, an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at my disposal at all times? That? Would be awesome.

Don’t you find out if Squishy is a mister or misses soon??!
-Belle, Yep! Our ultrasound is one week from today and I’M SO EXCITED!!!
